On Friday morning, April 19th, 2024, officers from the Punta Gorda Police Department responded to High School in Florida regarding a situation involving a THC vape pen and a student facing potential arrest. When her father arrived and decided to challenge the officers instead of de-escalating, the situation quickly spiraled out of control. In the end, the father was taken into custody for allegedly interfering with the officers' investigation into his daughter, while the daughter was also placed in the back of a patrol car. Both were ultimately transported to the police department for booking and processing. Based on the events documented in the body camera footage, potential charges could include: For the Father: *Resisting or Obstructing an Officer: For interfering with the ongoing investigation and resisting officers' attempts to detain him. For the Daughter: *Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: In connection with the THC vape pen found at the scene. *Possession of a Controlled Substance (THC/Cannabis): Depending on substance testing and local state laws. Final charges depend on the evidence gathered and decisions made by prosecutors. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
