On April 27, 2025 at approximately 1:43 AM, Officer Stephen Molenda with the Villa Park Police Department observed a 2005 Volkswagen sedan being driven erratically as it was headed westbound on Roosevelt Road. Someone else had reported a vehicle being driven erratically in the neighboring town of Elmhurst, and Officer Molenda advised dispatch that this Volkswagen was likely the vehicle that matched the caller’s description. After observing the driver continue to swerve, he activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. He made contact with the driver, who was later identified as Juana Cerriteno. As he was speaking with Juana, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. He asked her for her documents, but she seemed unable to locate them. The officer also observed an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. Her 2 passengers sitting in the vehicle happened to be her son and daughter. Since he suspected impairment, he asked Juana to perform field sobriety exercises, but Juana refused to perform any field sobriety exercises. Based on her erratic driving, the odor of alcohol, her indicators of impairment, the open container of alcohol inside the vehicle, and her unwillingness to perform any field sobriety exercises, Officer Molenda placed Juana under arrest for driving under the influence. She was handcuffed, placed in the patrol car, and transported to the Villa Park Police Department for further processing. Her children were asked to exit the vehicle, but the vehicle had to be towed since it was apparent that all of them had been drinking. Her daughter told the officer that they had been at the Allstate Arena earlier that evening. At the Villa Park Police Department, the Warning to Motorist form was read to her but she refused to provide adequate breath samples. After she was processed at the station, she was released pending her court appearance. She was issued the following citations: -Driving under the influence - alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2)) -Operating an uninsured motor vehicle (625 ILCS 5/3-707(a)) -Improper lane usage (625 ILCS 5/11-709(a)) -Transportation or possession of open alcohol by driver (625 ILCS 5/11-502(a)) ------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information).
