A concerned school staff member's alert to an officer working nearby uncovers a shocking level of impairment in a driver leaving school grounds. On April 22, 2022, an officer on extra duty was alerted by school staff about a potentially impaired driver, later identified as a teacher, exiting the school premises. The officer located the vehicle driving erratically and initiated a traffic stop. The driver claimed to be experiencing a panic attack, but officers observed clear indicators of impairment, prompting a full DUI investigation with backup. Despite initial refusal, the driver complied with field sobriety exercises, performing poorly on multiple tests including the Walk and Turn and One Leg Stand. Subsequent to her arrest for driving under the influence, a search of her vehicle revealed six bottles of vodka. At the police department, breath samples were eventually provided, revealing blood alcohol content levels of 0.311% and 0.305%, nearly four times the legal limit.
