A routine traffic stop quickly turned into a major drug investigation after a driver stopped past the line at a stop sign. During the encounter, the officer became suspicious that something more serious was happening and began investigating further. The driver refused consent to search the vehicle, leading officers to conduct a K9 sniff. After the K9 gave a positive alert, a search of the vehicle uncovered approximately $2.3 million worth of illegal drugs. After spending three months in jail, the driver pleaded guilty to multiple drug charges and was sentenced to 8 years in prison.
