This is a really weird situation, there was a receptionist making $23 an hour ( around $60k a year ) that was mistakenly paid over $400,000 in a payroll error. How did that happen? Well this was a veterinary clinic that specialized in horses and they had a veterinarian that was paid monthly as well as a one-time large yearly bonus that was paid based on the amount of work she did. There was a mixup in the payroll department and they had been paying the receptionist both her salary and the money owed to the veterinarian. This went on for about a year and because the Vet had multiple bank accounts, she somehow did not notice that she wasn't being paid for a very long time. The receptionist did not say anything to anyone about being paid such large amounts of money, in fact she transferred $200k of it to Argentina to purchase a home. She did however return $197,000 after finally being confronted. The problem was that about $215k short of the money she was accidentally paid. She was unable to return that money and the owners of the business called police and she was arrested. I'm curious to hear from you guys, what would you do in this situation ? if you were getting an extra $10k a month deposited in your account or a bonus of over $200k...would you keep it or tell your company they made a mistake? *suspects in these videos should always be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
