A routine disabled vehicle stop quickly unravels as an officer encounters a driver exhibiting clear signs of impairment, leading to a tense roadside investigation. On the evening of May 21, 2023, an officer responded to a disabled 2020 Toyota SUV with a flat tire on a residential street. During the initial interaction with the 45-year-old driver, signs of impairment became evident, including slurred speech and the distinct odor of alcohol, despite the driver's repeated denials of consumption. The situation escalated when the driver, wearing a light gray cardigan over a black graphic t-shirt with "Autism" text, refused to provide identification and failed to adequately perform field sobriety exercises, struggling to maintain balance and follow instructions. Based on the totality of observations, the individual was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
