A schoolyard argument over infidelity quickly escalated into a physical altercation, leading to a student's arrest for assault on campus. The incident began around 9:00 AM at a high school when officers were alerted to an altercation in the parking lot. Patrolman Eichen and Papa observed one student, an 18-year-old female, yelling at another individual, calling him a "cheater," and then physically assaulting him by throwing a phone and striking him multiple times in the back of the head. The female student admitted to being upset over alleged infidelity. Despite the other individual declining first aid and not wishing to press charges or pursue a restraining order, school protocol mandated an examination by the nurse, and law enforcement determined the situation constituted a domestic case due to the existing relationship between the adult students. Additional officers responded to assist. After reviewing security camera footage, which corroborated the female student initiating the physical altercation and found no evidence to support her claim of being assaulted, officers informed her in the Guidance office that she would be placed under arrest for simple assault. She was subsequently walked to a patrol car, handcuffed by Patrolman Hendrickson, and transported to the police department for processing. At headquarters, she was evaluated by first responders, fingerprinted, photographed, and formally charged with Simple Assault. To avoid a potential conflict of interest, her court case was transferred to another Municipal Court and remains pending. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
