On November 1, 2024, Pullman Police Officers were dispatched to a shoplifting in progress call at the Walmart. When Sgt. Gordon arrived, loss prevention personnel had detained a 19-year-old woman, who was accused of stealing a man's button-down shirt and a pair of tights. While Sgt. Gordon was out in his patrol car typing up a criminal citation, the woman was expressing her concerns that this incident might be posted on the internet. Officer Westerman explained the harsh reality that body camera footage is a public record and it could be requested and posted on the internet. The woman received a criminal citation for theft (3rd degree) and a lifetime ban from all Walmart stores in the U.S.
