Orlando, Florida - 28/05/2022 A 19-year-old man was killed in an officer-involved shooting near the Mall at Millenia on Saturday night. An off-duty police officer was working extra duty at Mall at Millenia, near Millenia Boulevard and Conroy Road, when a man was asked to leave through a Neiman Marcus store around 7:12 p.m. The suspect, who was identified as Sebastian Sepulveda Roman, pulled out a gun and fired once outside of the mall, OPD says. The off-duty officer initiated a foot pursuit and called for backup. According to the police department, the officer did not discharge his weapon when initially shot outside of the mall. Police said Roman then approached another officer’s vehicle near the Olive Garden, a gunshot was heard and the officer “returned fire” from inside his cruiser. Roman died during the confrontation, police said; however, they later clarified that the gunshot wound to Roman was self-inflicted. The officers involved were placed on administrative leave while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigates.
