Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At 9:21 PM on March 13, 2023, deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash that caused property damage at the intersection of Hypoluxo Road and Rivermill Boulevard in Lake Worth, Florida. The driver had swerved to the left, hit the curb, and ended up in the bushes. The driver was later identified as 19-year-old Samantha Maria Jones. When the deputies arrived, they arranged for her to be checked by first responders to confirm she did not need hospitalization. Initially, she claimed she was not under the influence but later acknowledged that she had drunk alcohol about four hours prior. Given that Samantha appeared to show signs of intoxication, the deputies allowed her to voluntarily take field sobriety tests once the first responders cleared her. The field sobriety tests included the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, Walk and Turn test, One Leg Stand test, Finger to Nose test, and reciting the alphabet. In the HGN test, deputies noted that there was no smooth eye movement, clear and lasting nystagmus at the maximum point of deviation, and the start of nystagmus before 45 degrees in both eyes. For the Walk and Turn test, Samantha had difficulty walking in a straight line. During the One Leg Stand test, Samantha put her foot down too early and used her arms to help her balance. She also did not perform the Finger to Nose test correctly, though she was able to recite the alphabet without any problems. After admitting to drinking alcohol, showing poor balance and coordination, and raising the Deputies’ suspicions of her being intoxicated, Samantha was arrested for driving under the influence. When her car was searched, Deputies discovered a bottle of Crown Royal Apple next to the keys. Samantha was handcuffed and taken to jail, where she consented to a breathalyzer test. The results showed her blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was 0.153% and 0.146%, both of which are nearly double the legal limit of 0.08%. After the breathalyzer, Samantha chose to waive her Miranda rights and answered most of the Deputy's questions about the incident.
