On October 1, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officer Haughney run a routine computer query of a vehicle driving in front of him. It showed that the vehicle's registration was suspended because of no insurance. Officer Haughney initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 29-year-old woman. She had her 6-year-old twins in the vehicle with her. The police report indicates that Officer Haughney could smell alcohol coming from the breath of the woman. However, she denied consuming any alcohol. Nonetheless, she was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She continued to deny drinking alcohol, but refused to submit to a portable breath test. As she was being placed under arrest, she became very angry and belligerent. She demanded to speak with Officer Haughney's supervisor. She was transported to the Rio Rancho Police Station, where Sgt. Samuel spoke with her. She also refused to submit to an evidential breath test. Her charges are listed at the end of the video. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
