On December 10, 2023, Las Cruces Police responded to a motor vehicle accident. The 18-year-old driver of the at-fault vehicle slammed into the back of another vehicle, which was carrying a small child in a car seat. One officer stated that he could smell alcohol on the breath of the woman. Her excuse was that she was hungover from the night before and had not brushed her teeth. She then stated she didn't want to perform field sobriety tests because she has a government job. When she was faced with the alternative of going to jail, she agreed to the roadside tests. Ultimately, she was arrested for DUI and transported to the Las Cruces police station, where she submitted to an evidential breath test. The result was 0.23% BAC. She was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center and faces 4 charges, which are discussed at the end of the video. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
