A late-night traffic stop escalates when an erratic driver faces the undeniable evidence of impairment. At approximately 4:18 AM, an officer observed a vehicle driving erratically, crossing the center line, nearly rear-ending another car, and speeding, prompting a traffic stop. During the initial interaction, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol and noted the driver's incoherence, leading to a request for voluntary field sobriety exercises. The driver subsequently failed multiple components of the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn, and One Leg Stand tests, alongside a Portable Breath Test (PBT) result of 0.125%. Based on these indicators, the driver was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and transported to the jail, where a later Alcotest confirmed a blood alcohol content of 0.111%, significantly over the legal limit for her age. She later pleaded guilty to an amended charge of negligent driving in the first degree, receiving a sentence that included probation and fines. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
