This happened around midnight on December 8, 2024. He followed the car. He stopped it on W Bergen Boulevard. He turned on his lights. He met the driver. The driver was Vincent Calvacca, who is 19. Vincent said he came from Ohio State. He showed the officer a gold card. Vincent said his late friend's father gave it to him. Officer Mellaci saw open containers. He suspected Vincent was drunk. Vincent had to get out. He was asked to do tests. A sergeant arrived. The sergeant first did an eye test. Then came the walk and turn test. Vincent did not do it right. He didn't step heel-to-toe. He turned the wrong way. The last test was standing on one foot. Vincent could not do this correctly. He counted wrong too. Officer Mellaci arrested Vincent. He was driving drunk. The car drove badly. It smelled of alcohol. Open drinks were inside. Vincent failed the tests. The car was towed. It was held for 12 hours. Another officer took Vincent to the police station. At the station, Vincent heard a statement. He agreed to breathe into a machine. The test showed his blood alcohol was 0.113%. This is over two times the legal limit. The limit for drivers under 21 is 0.01%. Officer Mellaci gave Vincent tickets. These were for: Driving under the influence Driving drunk underage Reckless driving Careless driving Speeding Open container Vincent also faced a charge. He had a fake ID.
