A late-night welfare check escalates as an officer confronts a highly intoxicated driver accused of attempting to abandon her children. In the early hours of June 11, 2024, law enforcement responded to reports of an extremely intoxicated individual attempting to abandon two young children at a gas station before driving away. Witnesses described erratic behavior, including the physical mishandling of an infant, prompting an urgent police response. This footage captures the initial moments of the traffic stop after officers located the suspect vehicle, a tan 2012 Cadillac SRX, on a dark suburban street. The officer approaches the driver, who appears disoriented and confused, questioning why the police were called, setting the stage for a critical investigation into child welfare and public intoxication. The individual was subsequently arrested on felony charges of child neglect and public intoxication, with a prior child neglect case in Florida noted in the incident report. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
