Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: On July 7, 2024 at approximately 12:28 AM, Officers Marvin DeJesus and Anthony Rutkowski of the Hoboken Police Department responded to a report regarding a driver of a 2021 GMC Yukon attempting to leave the scene after colliding with a parked 2020 Jeep Compass and a 2024 Nissan Sentra at the parking lot located at 23 Hudson Street. Upon arrival, Officer Ventura of the NJ Transit Police was already on the scene. It was later discovered that Officer Candia was the first to make contact with the driver after being alerted by witnesses near Pig & Parrot that the driver was not permitted to leave. Subsequently, Officer Andrias Bonilla arrived and engaged with the GMC driver, identified as 22-year-old Jefferson Sanchez. Jefferson informed Officer Bonilla that he had been at Fat Taco, a bar in Hoboken, prior to their interaction. He acknowledged consuming alcohol before driving, a fact he had also disclosed to NJ Transit Police officers. Following a motor vehicle accident and suspicion of impairment, Officer Bonilla requested Jefferson to participate in field sobriety exercises. However, Jefferson declined to take part, leading to his arrest for driving under the influence. Subsequently, his vehicle was impounded for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John’s Law, and Officers DeJesus and Rutkowski transported him to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing. Upon arrival at the Hoboken Police Department, Officer Bonilla administered the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, following which the individual consented to providing breath samples. The results of the Alcotest revealed a BAC of 0.19%, which surpassed the legal limit of 0.08% by more than double. Subsequent to processing, the individual was released to a responsible adult at 3:59 AM, pending their court appearance, post the completion of the Potential Liability Warning form on their behalf. Jefferson was issued summonses for Operating under the influence, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident by Officer Bonilla.
