On October 17, 2024, Hoboken Police Officers responded to the area of Newark Street and Willow Avenue on reports of a car crash where a driver hit a parked car. An off-duty Police Sergeant was on scene and told responding officers that he thought the driver was intoxicated. Officer Font spoke with the driver, a 45-year-old woman from Florida, and the police report indicates that he detected a strong odor of alcohol. The woman was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests and she was subsequently arrested for DUI. She was transported to Hoboken police headquarters and the police report indicates she blew a 0.13% BAC. She was cited for Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving. Her case remains open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
