On July 14, 2024, Kirkland Police Officers were dispatched to a call of a disabled vehicle stopped in the center thru lane. When Officers Batson and Cotto arrived, they were met by an off-duty firefighter, who explained that the driver of the disabled vehicle appeared intoxicated and she had a 2-mont-old baby in the backseat. The 44-year-old woman indicated that she had consumed "Ukrainian Juice", but did not know what was in it. An empty wine bottle could be seen next to the baby's car seat. The woman was asked to step out of her vehicle, but she refused to submit to field sobriety testing. As a result, she was placed under arrest for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. At this point, she started screaming about how her baby needed to be fed. Once she arrived at the police station, corrections officers had to restrain her in a restraint chair. She refused to cooperate with the booking process, so Officer Cotto applied for and received a search warrant to draw her blood. Her charges are listed at the end of the video. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
