Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: On November 16, 2023 at approximately 12:57 a.m., Officer Ashley Molinari of the Lake Forest Police Department observed a white 2017 Kia Sportage traveling southbound on Waukegan Road before turning west onto Everett Road. She drove up to the car and passed it at 45 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. Officer Molinari initiated a traffic stop at Everett Road and Old Barn Lane. She made contact with a 24-year-old woman identified as Kaitlin. When she spoke with Kaitlin, she informed her that she had been pulled over for speeding. When Kaitlin was asked if she had been drinking alcohol, she admitted to drinking a Stella beer at the Lantern bar in Lake Forest, Illinois. After she admitted to consuming alcohol, Officer Molinari asked Kaitlin to perform sobriety exercises. So, first up was the eye test thing – HGN. Officer Molinari noticed that Kaitlin's eyes weren't smooth, and there was some wobbly eye movement at the far side, but she didn't see the wobbles start before 45 degrees. Then there was the walking in a straight line test. Kaitlin didn't keep her arms down and turned the wrong way. Finally, there was the stand on one leg test. Kaitlin didn't lift her foot the right way and was wobbly. Following the field sobriety exercises, Officer Molinari provided Kaitlin with the opportunity to undergo a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT), which revealed a BAC of 0.081%. Considering her erratic driving, the scent of alcohol, her admission to consuming alcohol, her inability to effectively perform the field sobriety exercises, and the outcomes of the PBT, Officer Molinari proceeded to arrest Kaitlin for driving under the influence. Subsequently, Kaitlin was handcuffed and placed in the patrol car while her vehicle was towed. So, Kaitlin got taken to the Lake Forest Police Department for more stuff. When she got there, she agreed to blow into the breathalyzer for tests. Turns out she had a BAC of 0.067%, which was below the legal limit of 0.08%. After they finished up the paperwork and took her picture and fingerprints, she got released to her mom until her court date at the Lake County Courthouse on December 1, 2023. So, Kaitlin got in trouble for driving under the influence of alcohol, making a bad turn at an intersection, speeding, and driving without insurance. According to court records, Kaitlin's case was resolved in court on February 13, 2024. The charges for DUI and operating an uninsured motor vehicle were dismissed. She was fined a total of $1,276.50 for the remaining two citations.
