On May 1, 2022, Janesville Police Officer Mueller stopped a 56-year-old female driver who allegedly crossed the center line and almost hit him head-on. Immediately upon making contact with the woman, Officer Mueller sensed that she was intoxicated. When a backup officer arrived, the woman was asked to step out of the vehicle to perform standardized field sobriety tests. However, she was too intoxicated to complete any of them. As she was being placed under arrest, Officer Mueller asked her if she had ever been arrested for drunk driving and she admitted to 8 prior arrests. She then uttered that she was going to prison. She initially consented to a blood draw, but when they arrived at the hospital, she changed her mind. She was then transported to the Janesville police station, where officers applied for and received a search warrant for her blood. She was transported back to the hospital about 90 minutes later, where she protested, but eventually submitted to the blood draw. Her blood alcohol level was 0.226%. Court records confirm that this was her 9th DUI arrest. It was also widely reported in the news. Her charges and the outcome of her case are discussed at the end of the video.
