A 22-year-old blew more than four times the legal limit, got caught asleep at the wheel, and was absolutely sure she could flirt her way out of a DUI. The breathalyzer disagreed. On November 17, 2024, Sarasota police responded to a report of a Jeep stopping at green lights, hitting curbs, and drifting lanes. They found 22-year-old Sophia Ross asleep at the wheel. During the stop she repeatedly tried to charm the officer — then flipped and insulted him when it didn't work. Two breath samples came back at .330 and .318, more than four times Florida's .08 limit. The officer stayed professional throughout and got an impaired driver off the road. Ross was charged with DUI and, in February 2025, was sentenced to one year of probation, random drug testing, 50 hours of community service, and DUI school, avoiding jail time.
