A broken taillight. A denial about a gun that turned out to be true. And a camera that recorded nearly six hours of nothing at the exact moment it mattered most. On September 30, 2025, a Louisiana State Trooper attempted to stop 34-year-old Brandon Nicholas for a nonfunctioning taillight on LA Highway 431 near Gonzales. Nicholas didn't pull over right away. When the trooper approached, he said he saw a firearm inside the car and smelled marijuana — Nicholas denied having a gun. A struggle followed. The trooper's body camera was knocked loose during the fight, going dark for nearly six hours. As Nicholas drove off with the trooper still partially inside the vehicle, the trooper fired. Nicholas died from his injuries. This is the official body-worn camera and dashcam footage Louisiana State Police released, including the department's own account of the moments the camera didn't capture. ⚠️ Brandon Nicholas died as a result of this shooting. His family disputes the department's account and has publicly questioned why a taser wasn't used instead. Following a six-month investigation, the Ascension Parish District Attorney's Office cleared the trooper, ruling his actions objectively reasonable under Louisiana self-defense law. This video presents both accounts fairly. 📁 Chapters: 0:00 – Cold open 0:14 – Disclaimer 0:47 – The Stop 1:21 – The Interaction 1:45 – The Struggle 2:24 – The Shooting 2:56 – The Aftermath 3:26 – The Evidence 3:53 – What Happened Next 4:20 – Outro 🎥 Footage: Louisiana State Police, released as part of the department's Critical Incident Briefing Video series.
