On January 9, 2024, Dayton Police Officers responded to a hit and run motor vehicle accident. Officer Blankley found the woman responsible for the accident unresponsive in her vehicle. She was immediately detained and placed in the back of Officer Blankley's police car. Instead of administering field sobriety tests, Officer Blankley asked the 38-year-old woman if she would consent to a blood draw at the hospital. While enroute back from the hospital, Officer Blankley had a candid conversation with the woman about her history of driving impaired, her experience with Child Protective Services (CPS), and the stresses of being a mother to young children. Her charges and the outcome of the case are discussed at the end of the video.
