Witness account details a driver's extreme erratic behavior, leading to a police intervention. Late on September 10, 2022, a concerned witness reported an erratic driver in a black 2016 Jeep, detailing how the vehicle damaged a sign and exhibited dangerous maneuvers, including driving on the grass and attempting to navigate lanes incorrectly, driving at only 10 MPH on a highway ramp. Officers were dispatched, and the reported vehicle was located and stopped. Upon contact with the driver, officers noted immediate indicators of impairment, prompting a request for field sobriety exercises. During the initial stages of the field sobriety evaluation, the officer, concerned for the driver's safety, made the decision to terminate the exercises and placed the individual under arrest for driving under the influence. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed an open container of alcohol, and the vehicle was impounded under John's Law for a mandatory 12-hour hold. The driver was transported for processing, where summonses for operating under the influence and unsafe operation were issued.
