On August 21, 2024, Roswell Police Officer Jimenez attempted to stop the 26-year-old driver of a Toyota Prius for a traffic violation. A brief pursuit was initiated until the woman pulled into the parking lot of a Dennys. She was immediately detained in handcuffs and placed in the back of Officer Jimenez's police truck. Officer Jimenez asked the woman if she had consumed any alcohol and she stated that she had been using a mouth rinse. Officer Taylor arrived to conduct standardized field sobriety tests (FSTs). The woman asked to speak with Officer Taylor alone and then alleged that the traffic stop and detention were retaliation because Officer Jimenez had previously asked her out and she said no. The FSTs were stopped when the woman refused to perform them correctly. At the Roswell police station, she refused to submit to an evidential breath test. She was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence and she was transported to the Chaves County Detention Center. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
