A late-night traffic stop escalates rapidly as an officer suspects impairment, leading to a series of critical field sobriety and breath tests. Initiated after observing a vehicle driving erratically, crossing the center line, and speeding at 4:18 AM, the interaction quickly revealed signs of intoxication. The driver, initially denying alcohol consumption, later admitted to drinking, prompting the administration of multiple field sobriety exercises which indicated significant impairment, including a failed Walk and Turn test where she walked backwards. Following a preliminary breath test registering 0.125% BAC, the individual was placed under arrest for driving under the influence (RCW 46.61.502) and subsequently processed, with a formal breathalyzer confirming a 0.111% BAC. The case concluded with a plea of guilty to negligent driving, resulting in probation, fines, and community service, underscoring the serious consequences of impaired operation. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
