On December 24, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident. Officer Rivera arrived first and questioned the 33-year-old driver of a Kia who caused the rear-end collision. He immediately smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle so he called for additional units to assist him. Officer Roskos arrived and interviewed the woman, who admitted to drinking 1/2 pint of Admiral Nelson whiskey 2 hours prior. Officer Roskos escorted the woman to a waiting ambulance where he conducted some field sobriety testing on her. She was placed under arrest and was transported to the Rio Rancho Police Station. She provided two breath samples and the results were 0.23% BAC and 0.24% BAC. She was taken to the hospital where it appears she broke her hand as a result of the accident. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
