Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: On May 5, 2024, at 11:07 p.m., Lindenwold Officer Steven Burns saw a black 2014 Jeep Wrangler swerving near crashes on Blackwood Clementon Road. He stopped the Jeep and approached the driver, Astrid Valdez-Guzman. As Burns spoke with Astrid, he smelled alcohol and noticed clear signs of impairment. She said she had left a bar. Suspecting she was drunk, he asked her to step out for sobriety tests. She passed the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test but failed to follow directions during the Walk and Turn test, so officers stopped it. Her erratic driving, signs of impairment, and poor test performance led to a DWI arrest. Police towed her Jeep for a 12-hour hold under John's Law, then took her to the station for booking. At the station, officers read her the standard statement for drivers. She agreed to provide breath samples, and Officer Thomas Mallon administered the Alcotest. The test showed a blood alcohol level of 0.17%, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08%. Afterward, officers released her to Edgar Cisneros, who signed the liability warning for her while she awaited court. Burns issued two tickets: Operating under the influence (39:4-50). Reckless driving (39:4-96). On October 16, 2024, the court found Astrid guilty of driving under the influence. She received a three-month ignition interlock requirement, 12 hours at a drunk-driver center, and $640 in fines. The reckless-driving charge was dismissed as part of the plea deal.
