Arkansas State Police Troop G Dispatch is notified of a vehicle driving recklessly by several calls and another Trooper. Corporal J. Broughton (G-36) locates the vehicle and attempts to stop it. The suspect instantly hits another vehicle and flees. Incident Report: While I was patrolling U.S. Highway 67 near FedEx, Troop G dispatched Corporal Tyler Gentry to a reckless driver call. The driver was driving an older Chevrolet pickup with a blue tailgate. Troop G received another call about this driver passing vehicles and tractor trailers on Interstate 30 westbound around the 14-mile marker. Corporal Gentry was out with an abandoned tractor trailer at the 7-mile marker eastbound ramp near State Highway 108. I advised him that I was in the area and that I would look for the reckless driver. As I sat at the overpass bridge on State Highway 108, I noticed a vehicle matching the description of the reckless driver passing a tractor trailer on the shoulder around the 8- mile marker. I notified Troop G dispatch of the vehicle's manner of driving and entered Interstate 30 westbound at the 7-mile marker westbound. Once behind the vehicle, I activated my lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop with the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle, later identified as Roy Meyers of Missouri, appeared to try to pull over; however, he never reduced his speed. Meyers continued to travel westbound on the shoulder of Interstate 30. As Meyers traveled, he then collided with a black passenger car. I initiated the pursuit with speeds traveling over 98mph in a 75mph speed zone. Meyers would pass several tractor trailers on the shoulder and change lanes erratically. As I attempted to perform a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) on the suspect vehicle, he brake-checked me before coming to a final rest in the middle of Interstate 30, around the 4- mile marker. Before coming to final rest, the Meyers rolled down his window and appeared to be moving around in the vehicle. Once coming to final rest, he could be heard yelling, “The Demons are chasing me". Meyers was arrested without further incident and later transported to the Miller County Detention Center for further DWI Drugs evaluation. During the inventory of the vehicle, Kratom bottles and pill packets were in plain sight near the center console. Corporal Gentry worked the collision caused by the suspect vehicle near the 5-mile marker. #arkansas #policechase #pursuit #dashcam #pitmaneuver #crash #news
