A 35-year-old man from Oxford turned himself in to police on May 30 after reporting the death of his ex-partner, Rachael Vaughan, who was 40 years old. During the call, he claimed the incident was accidental and said he did not intend to cause her death. Recently released bodycam footage shows the man speaking with officers at the scene, where he can be heard expressing concern about missing the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 as he was being arrested. An officer responded by telling him there was still time before the game’s release, but the man continued to appear distressed, saying he believed he would receive a life sentence. He later pleaded guilty to one count of murder at Oxford Crown Court and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of over 16 years. Police officials stated that their thoughts remain with the victim’s family, describing the loss as devastating and emphasizing that she should have been safe in her own home.
