On July 5, 2025, Albuquerque Police were conducting a DUI Sobriety Checkpoint. The driver of a gray Dodge Charger approached the checkpoint with its front bumper dragging on the ground. Officers asked the 19-year-old driver to exit the vehicle when it was discovered that her male passenger possessed a firearm. Officers then discovered that the driver had a white powdery substance on her nose. She denied consuming alcohol or using drugs. However, she was asked to submit to standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was escorted to a nearby DUI trailer, where she refused to submit to an evidential breath test. She was placed under arrest for Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
