Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: On February 20, 2023, at approximately 9:25 AM, Sergeant Roary Miller and Officers Wilfredo Gomez, Michael Aviles, and Tyrone Huggins of the Hoboken Police Department promptly responded to a reported shoplifting incident at ShopRite located on 900 Madison Street. Upon their arrival, they were briefed that the suspect had abandoned the stolen items and was making an attempt to exit the store. Sergeant Miller successfully identified a male individual matching the suspect's description on Madison Street, directly in front of ShopRite, and engaged with him at 9:27 AM. The individual in question refuted the accusation of attempting to steal from the store and informed Sergeant Miller that he was not carrying any identification. Officer Gomez requested his name, and he provided a false identity, introducing himself as "Marcus Martinez." Subsequently, the officers discovered that he had not disclosed his true identity, and after further investigation, they identified him as 33-year-old George Xenakis. Upon the arrival of Officers Aviles and Huggins for assistance, Sergeant Miller and Officer Gomez proceeded to enter ShopRite for further investigation. The store manager informed Officer Gomez that the individual in question had engaged in multiple incidents of theft, amassing over $7,000 worth of stolen items. The officers conducted interviews with Felix and other store employees while calculating the total value of the bacon the suspect had attempted to pilfer on that particular day. Following a thorough search, it was discovered that George was found in possession of prohibited items. Subsequently, he was placed in handcuffs, escorted to the patrol car, and taken to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing. Upon arrival at the police headquarters, a more detailed search was conducted, leading to his charges for shoplifting (2C:20-11B(2)), hindering apprehension (2C:29-3), and CDS/Possession: Influence (2C:35-10A(1)). Furthermore, upon checking his records, it was revealed that George had several outstanding warrants, resulting in his transfer to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. It is also noted in court records that George has a history of multiple prior arrests for shoplifting in different jurisdictions.
