The badge of former deputy Douglas Meyer, 37, is set to be melted down following his arrest. Meyer has been charged with an organized scheme to defraud. According to authorities, Meyer allegedly attempted a check-kiting scheme, writing bad checks to himself between credit unions and taking advantage of the time it takes for checks to clear. Reports indicate that he even visited one of the credit unions in uniform to request the release of the hold on his deposited checks. Meyer worked as a deputy from 2020 to 2024 and returned earlier this year until resigning in August.
