On February 23, 2024, Corporal Conant of the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office stopped a Black Infiniti near the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte, Florida, following a welfare call from a local establishment reporting concern about the driver's ability to safely operate a vehicle. Inside the car were two children — a 2-year-old and a 7-month-old infant. In this video, we analyze the full bodycam footage of the field sobriety investigation, the arrest, and the legal aftermath — including charges of DUI (two counts with a minor in the vehicle) and child neglect. We break down the NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Test battery, the role of prescription medication in DUI cases under Florida Statute § 316.193, and the child welfare obligations triggered under Florida Statute § 827.03.
