Stockton, California — A proactive police contact in a residential neighborhood escalated into a deadly officer-involved shooting on the evening of September 9, 2025. According to investigators, Stockton Police officers were conducting patrol operations near Doray Court and Pixie Drive around 6:08 p.m. when they noticed a vehicle stopped at the end of the cul-de-sac. Officers approached to speak with the occupant, a 19-year-old male. As officers attempted to make contact, the individual exited the vehicle and allegedly disregarded commands to remain at the scene. A physical struggle followed when officers attempted to detain him. During the confrontation, authorities say the man resisted efforts to take him into custody and eventually broke free. Investigators reported that an extended handgun magazine fell from the suspect's person during the struggle, prompting officers to pursue him as he ran from the area. While fleeing, the suspect allegedly dropped a loaded handgun. Authorities state that he then kicked the firearm ahead of himself before recovering it and continuing to run despite repeated commands from pursuing officers. Moments later, an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground. Additional officers responded to secure the scene, where a loaded handgun and a fully loaded 17-round magazine were recovered nearby. Officers provided emergency medical aid until paramedics arrived. The suspect was transported to a local hospital but later died from his injuries. No officers were reported injured during the incident.
