It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At 12:41 AM on July 2, 2023, Deputy Brown from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office was assigned to Froggy’s Bar in Lakeview, Ohio. Four witnesses approached him and reported that a driver in a white Ram pickup truck had hit another vehicle in the parking lot near Acheson’s Resort. Deputy Brown called for backup, and Deputies Greg Praither and Boyd arrived at around 12:58 AM. Deputy Praither then contacted the driver of the pickup, identified as 26-year-old Hannah Johnson. Deputy Praither asked Hannah how much she had to drink. She replied that she had at least six drinks earlier that evening. Hannah didn’t seem to realize she had hit a parked car, and her answers were confusing. Sensing she might be impaired, Deputy Praither offered Hannah the chance to do some field sobriety tests, and she agreed. The first field sobriety test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. Deputy Praither noticed that Hannah's eyes did not follow smoothly and showed distinct shaking when looking to the side. Next was the Walk and Turn test. Hannah struggled to keep her balance and couldn’t finish the test. Then, Deputy Praither asked her to do the One Leg Stand test. Hannah couldn't get into the starting position for this test, so Deputy Praither decided to stop the field sobriety tests. After hearing witness statements and seeing that Hannah struggled with sobriety tests, Deputy Praither arrested her for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). Following the arrest, Deputies Praither and Boyd searched her car and discovered a large sum of cash inside. Hannah was then taken to the Logan County Jail for processing. In the breathalyzer room, she began to curse at the deputies and eventually vomited into a trash can. After the observation period, Deputy Praither informed Hannah about the BMV/2255 form, and she agreed to undergo chemical testing. Her breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.166%, which is more than twice the legal limit. After her processing at the Logan County Jail, they took her license and released her, pending her first court date.
