It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: It was June 6, 2023, at 9:40 PM. Officer Kevin Quigley patrolled Saratoga Springs. He saw a black 2010 Toyota Corolla. It swerved south on Broadway. The lanes became one. The car then ran a red light. This happened at South Broadway and Lincoln Avenue. Officer Quigley turned on his lights. He stopped the car in front of Anne’s Washington Inn. Officer Quigley walked up to the driver. She was a 24-year-old named Christina. Officer John Alfano showed up to help. Quigley asked Christina where she was going. She said she was driving home. Christina had just left Druthers in Saratoga Springs. She tried to get the officer to feel bad for her. Christina said she did not drink before driving. Later, she said she did drink earlier that night. The officer thought she was impaired. He asked Christina to get out of the car. She then had to do sobriety tests. First, Officer Quigley gave Christina the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. He watched her eyes. They did not move smoothly. He saw a distinct jerking at maximum deviation. Next, Christina did the Walk and Turn test. She lost her balance. She failed to touch heel to toe. Also, she turned the wrong way. Her steps were not the right amount. Finally, she tried the One Leg Stand test. After these tests, she used a portable breathalyzer. The PBT showed alcohol in her system. Christina's night took a turn when Officer Quigley pulled her over. She had traffic violations and admitted to drinking alcohol. She struggled with field sobriety tests. A PBT confirmed the officer's suspicions. Quigley arrested Christina for driving under the influence. A search of her car found an open can of Truly. Her vehicle was towed away. Officers Quigley and Alfano took Christina to the Saratoga Springs Police Department. She would be processed there. At the station, Christina gave breath samples for testing. The test showed her BAC was 0.08%. After processing, Christina was released to a sober person. She awaited her court date. Officer Quigley gave Christina several tickets. These included Driving While Intoxicated and Operating a Vehicle With Excess Alcohol. She also received tickets for Unsafe Lane Change, Having Alcohol in the Car, and an Unregistered Vehicle.
