On September 13, 2024 at approximately 12:23 AM, Deputy Sarzynski with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office observed a Nissan Rogue swerving across the solid white line while driving. He initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who was later identified as Hilary. Hilary told Deputy Sarzynski that she was headed home after attending a work event in Wilmette earlier that evening. He asked Hilary if she had anything to drink, and she admitted to consuming 2 drinks before operating a motor vehicle. Based on his suspicion of impairment, Deputy Sarzynski called for backup and asked Hilary to exit the vehicle to perform field sobriety exercises. Deputy Sarzynski started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. Afterwards, he decided to not administer the Walk and Turn or the One Leg Stand tests because of Hilary’s apparent foot injury. After the HGN test was complete, Deputy Sarzynski offered Hilary an opportunity to take a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT), and she agreed to do so. He attempted to have her blow into the breathalyzer multiple times, but she failed to provide adequate breath samples in order to get a reading of her BAC level. Based on her erratic driving and her admission to consuming alcohol, Hilary was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. After she was handcuffed, Hilary was placed in the patrol car and her vehicle was towed. Deputy Sarzynski transported Hilary to the Lake County Jail for further processing. After being processed, she was eventually released from the jail pending her court appearance. Hilary was charged with the following: Driving under the influence (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2)), driving under the influence/BAC 0.08 (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(1)), and improper traffic lane usage (625 ILCS 5/11-709(a)) ------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information).
