https://youtu.be/tfZ4-wWu2QM Officers respond to a disabled vehicle after a reported crash. The driver says her car was struck and the other vehicle fled. When asked what happened, she repeatedly declines to explain, saying she “can’t at this time.” On scene, police try to shut the vehicle off, locate the driver’s ID, and confirm whether she needs medical help. The driver insists she’s okay but remains reluctant to share details about the crash. When asked if she’s been drinking, she says no. A supervisor arrives and officers begin a DUI investigation. They explain the process and advise that everything is being recorded (audio and video). The driver asks to use the bathroom and says it’s very cold. She’s offered options to do the tests indoors and to remove her heels to make the tests easier. Field sobriety testing begins with the eye check (HGN). Next, officers demonstrate and explain the Walk-and-Turn and One-Leg Stand. The driver frequently mentions pain, the cold weather (December), and says she keeps thinking about something a supervisor said. She struggles to stay focused, repeatedly asks to use the restroom, and says she’s trying her best. Despite multiple explanations and accommodations (moving to a warmer area, giving clear instructions, offering footwear changes), her performance does not satisfy the officers. After the final attempts at testing, officers end the evaluation and place her in custody. A tow truck is called for her vehicle, and officers arrange to retrieve any personal items from the car.
