On November 20, 2023, Las Cruces Police Officers responded to a single car motor vehicle accident, where a 20-year-old woman struck a curb and damaged her tire and rim. She was initially found by an off-duty Mesilla Marshal, who waited for Las Cruces officers to arrive. When Officer Ibarra made contact with the woman, she denied consuming any alcohol. However, she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She was arrested for DUI and was placed in the back of a patrol car. Because she did not have a license, officers attempted to identify her by name and date of birth. However, she was so intoxicated, she could not remember her date of birth. She was taken to the Las Cruces police station, where she provided a breath sample and the result was 0.23% BAC. After being medically cleared at the hospital, she was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center. Her charge and the outcome of the case are discussed at the end of the video.
