Prior Arrest at Hoboken ShopRite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02ZXqczal4Y Around 10:45 AM on August 17, 2025, Officer Aaron Font with the Hoboken Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting at CVS on 59 Washington Street. He immediately located a woman matching the caller’s description who was sitting down in front of the Hoboken City Hall at 94 Washington Street. The woman, identified as Michelle Rodriguez, admitted that she had just stolen some items from the Hoboken CVS. She was even wearing a stolen hat on her head. Officer Brandon Fitzgibbons arrived on scene to assist shortly afterwards. An on-scene investigation confirmed that Michelle was in possession of several stolen items including makeup. Shortly afterwards, Officer Font placed Michelle under arrest for shoplifting. Michelle was handcuffed and escorted to the patrol car. He transported her to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing. She was charged with shoplifting under 2C:20-11B(1) and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. Michelle had recently been arrested for stealing from the Hoboken ShopRite at 900 Madison Street on August 10, 2025. ---------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information). (P.L. 2024, c.16). Defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. The New Jersey Supreme Court has previously affirmed in Salzano v. North Jersey Media Group, 993 A.2d 778 (2010) that “The fair-report privilege reflects the judgment that the need, in a self-governing society, for free-flowing information about matters of public interest outweighs concerns over the uncompensated injury to a person's reputation.” This video advances a compelling public interest. The summary of events was based on records that are “open to public view through open access to public records” as defined in the Salzano case. In Ramos v. Flowers, 429 N.J. Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
