A sheriff apprehended a scam artist and brought him back to Florida to face the 70-year-old woman he defrauded of $60,000. The victim had responded to an email about a wounded military dog and was led to believe she was helping a retired Army general return to the U.S. She ended up sending around $60,000, including $30,000 in cash, which the scammer spent on a car, a mower, and a trailer. The suspect, 56-year-old Cory Ray Woodall from Oxford, N.C., has arrived in Volusia County and faces charges of organized scheme to defraud and grand theft.
