On March 3, 2025, Lakewood police officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle striking a curb and becoming disabled. Officer Rafter arrived to find a 25-year-old woman behind the wheel of the vehicle. She was still pressing on the gas pedal in an attempt to free the vehicle from the grass lawn and curb. The police report indicates that Officer Rafter could smell alcohol coming from the breath of the woman. Despite this, she denied consuming alcohol multiple times. She was ordered out of the vehicle and was then requested to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) and Failure to Control. She was transported to the Lakewood police station, where the police report indicates she submitted to a breath test. The result was 0.251% BAC.
