A late-night gas station encounter escalates into a harrowing child neglect investigation, revealing a disturbing pattern of behavior. On June 11, 2024, officers responded to a gas station after witnesses reported a visibly intoxicated woman attempting to abandon her two young children, allegedly tossing an infant to the ground. The suspect then drove away with the children, leading to a police pursuit that culminated in a traffic stop on a dark suburban street. During the stop, she exhibited erratic behavior, denying intoxication, making concerning statements about her children's whereabouts, and even hallucinating about a third child. Officers conducted an extensive search for the hallucinated child, who was later found safe with a family member. The suspect, already on probation for a previous child neglect case in Florida, was arrested on multiple charges including felony child neglect and public intoxication, with child services taking custody of the children.
