Dash camera video from the Fairview Park Police Department of a tow truck operator being pinned under his own vehicle after a traffic stop accident. Location: Fairview Park, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States Date: March 18, 2019 (Monday) Fairview Park Police Department: March 18, 2019 Press Release 19-0319 At approximately 4:00 a.m. this morning a Fairview Park Police Officer was on a traffic stop on Lorain Road eastbound at W. 204 St. The officer had requested a tow to impound the vehicle he had stopped. A tow truck from Patton’s Towing arrived at the scene and the operator, a 53 year old male from Cleveland, began putting the stopped vehicle onto the tow truck. At the time the tow truck and police cruiser had their emergency warning lights on. A silver Acura operated by a 35 year old male from Cleveland was traveling westbound on Lorain Road from the area of W. 202 St. It went left of center and struck the tow truck in the driver’s side front, pushing the tow truck on top of its operator, who was outside of the truck. The tow truck operator was pinned under the bed of the tow truck. Police Officers on scene rendered first aid to the driver of the Acura and the tow truck operator until the Fairview Park Fire Department arrived on scene. The men were transported to Metro General Hospital with serious injuries. At the time of this writing the injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. The accident is still under investigation and names are being withheld pending notification of family and the outcome of our investigation.
