An officer's concern for a distraught driver quickly shifts to a DUI investigation after unusual behavior is observed. At approximately 1:57 PM, an officer on extra duty was alerted by school staff to a potentially impaired teacher driving a silver 2015 Hyundai. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the driver claimed to be having a panic attack, but officers observed indicators of impairment. Backup arrived, and after the driver initially refused but then complied to exit her vehicle, she performed field sobriety exercises. During the Walk and Turn test, she failed to touch heel-to-toe, turned improperly, and took an incorrect number of steps, while also failing the One Leg Stand test. Based on these observations and erratic driving, she was arrested for DUI, and a search incident to arrest yielded six bottles of vodka. Later, breath samples revealed BAC levels of 0.311% and 0.305%, nearly four times the legal limit, leading to her citation and transport to jail. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
