It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On the early morning of December 24, 2022, Christmas Eve, a Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Deputy noticed a car swerving on Caroline Street in Milton, Florida. The deputies turned on their lights, prompting the vehicle to stop in front of Zaxby’s restaurant. The driver, later identified as 24-year-old Alexis Porter, was asked if she had been drinking. She replied that she hadn't drunk much and was coming from a friend’s house. Porter appeared confused and seemed unsure of her surroundings. When asked for her insurance, she mistakenly handed the Deputy her vehicle registration. Her speech was slurred, and her eyes looked watery, indicating a lack of coordination. After she was told to step out of the car, the Deputy inquired if she was wearing any pants. Porter was asked to complete some standard field sobriety tests, which included the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn test, and One Leg Stand test. She struggled with all of them and couldn't do them properly. Because of her appearance and her failure to pass the tests, Porter was arrested for driving under the influence. Once she was inside the police car, the Deputies began searching her vehicle. In a surprising move, she slipped out of the handcuffs. When the Deputies tried to get in touch with someone to pick up the car, she remained aggressive and uncooperative. Eventually, they decided to tow the vehicle instead.
