A violent standoff in San Jose ended with a deadly police shooting. Police said the man they shot was armed with a machete and held a mother and two children hostage for hours late Wednesday. "This is a very traumatic experience for everybody involved, not just the family, but the officers as well," said Steven Aponte, public information officer for the San Jose Police Department. Aponte said officers surrounded a home in the 900 block of Boynton Avenue "in an attempt to deescalate the situation to have a peaceful surrender of the subject."
