On June 16, 2023, what started as a routine traffic stop on Interstate 88 near Duanesburg, NY turned into a nightmare. New York State Trooper Richard Albert pulled over a Honda Odyssey clocked at over 100 mph. As he approached the vehicle, 32-year-old Nelson Troche suddenly opened fire from the driver’s window, hitting Trooper Albert in the shoulder. Despite being wounded, Albert returned fire while seeking cover. The gunfire sparked a chain reaction crash when a semi-truck slammed into a pickup truck that had stopped to avoid the shootout. As chaos erupted, Troche and his girlfriend, Alicia Eriole, attempted to flee. But a quick-thinking semi-truck driver intentionally rammed their vehicle to prevent their escape. The suspects then fled on foot into a wooded area. Watch as Trooper Albert radioed for air and K9 units while continuing to pursue the suspects, bleeding but determined. Troche later died by self-deletion, and Eriole was arrested shortly after. She pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal facilitation for aiding Troche during the ambush and received a 4–12 year prison sentence. Trooper Albert survived his injuries and was awarded for his incredible bravery under fire. 🔴 WATCH THE FULL BODYCAM & DASHCAM FOOTAGE – EVERY SECOND COUNTS.👮‍♂️ Real danger. Real courage.
