Location: Madera, Madera County, California, United States Date: Uncertain (Video released on August 9, 2019) Madera Police Department: DUI collision Last night, Officers were conducting a criminal investigation in the 900 block of West Pecan. The street was closed to through traffic. We had patrol vehicles with activated overhead lights blocking the roadway. Teresa Orta was driving while under the influence of alcohol. She managed to enter Pecan Avenue and traveled east in the westbound lane. Teresa collided head-on with a patrol vehicle. The impact caused her vehicle to roll onto its roof. The magnitude of the impact caused the patrol vehicle that she struck to collide with a second unit that was parked 20 feet away. Just seconds before the collision several officers were in the roadway where the crash occurred. Teresa suffered minor injuries and was treated at Madera Community Hospital. She was booked for felony DUI because her passenger was injured. The video depicts how violent the collision was. Luckily no one was seriously hurt, and the officers were okay. Teresa’s blood alcohol level was over three times the legal limit. This is another example of how dangerous it is to drink and drive. JC3509
